There is nothing more Australian than Volunteering.

Community Resilience is in the hands of our Volunteers!

Each year for the almost 19 years, Wide Bay Volunteers has hosted the Annual Volunteer Awards (AVA) during National Volunteer Week in May. These Awards are held in all our regions and celebrate the unique efforts of our Volunteers and each of the ceremonies are different.

  • 2016 Volunteers Picnic

    Celebrating Volunteers

There are some incredibly talent volunteers in the Wide Bay, from the unsung heroes from the Rural Fire Brigade that gave demonstrations on fire safety, to our very own Volunteer Photographer, Colin Neatherway.
    Thanks Colin!!!

We need your help to recognise our Hereos, that hold our community together!

  • AVA 2016, held in the Gayndah Town Hall and supported by Mayor Chambers and all the Councillors!

    We love the North Burnett!

    The North Burnett Region

In the North Burnett, the AVA's are run with the support of the North Burnett Regional Council. Each of the towns in the region submit nominations and a town Volunteer of the Year is selected. From those towns Volunteer Award winners, the North Burnett Regional Volunteer of the Year is selected. Each year, the North Burnett Regional Annual Volunteer Awards, are held in the Civic Center, Gayndah in Annual Volunteers Week (usually the second week of May). The North Burnett has brought us some of the best and most endearing volunteer stories, some from volunteers that have been taking care of their communities for decades! Cheers to the North Burnett Volunteers!

2017 Annual Volunteer Awards, being held on 10th MAY, from 10:00am to 11:30am at the Gayndah Town Hall.

  • AVA 2016, was held in Alexandra Park at the end of the Volunteer Expo

    Wide Bay Volunteers
    are the best!
    The Wide Bay Region

In the Wide Bay, the AVA's were held in the Civic Center. In recent years, they have been added onto the premier event at the Volunteer Expo in Volunteers Week. Wherever they are held, there is always a strong spirit of community and collaboration. The AVA's in 2016 were held in Alexandra Park with support from local volunteer organisations giving demonstrations, answering questions and inviting members of the public to join their organisations. We were lucky enough to have the support Red Cross, Churches of Christ Care, Carinbundi, the Rural Fire Service, the SES and Rotary to name a few. It was a great celebration of Volunteers and volunteering in the Wide Bay Region!
Cheers to the Wide Bay Region!

2017 Annual Volunteer Awards, being held on 12th MAY, from 10:00am to 11:30am in Alexandra Park.

  • AVA's in Fraser Coast are typically held in Hervey Bay!
    What a beautiful place!
    The Fraser Coast

In the Fraser Coast, there are a number of Volunteering "hot spots" and Hervey Bay and Maryborough are two of them. There are as many reasons to volunteer as there are volunteers, but this region has some of the best stories to tell, particularly from the volunteering effort that arises from natural disasters and hardships. The Fraser Coast Annual Volunteer Awards have been held in the past at a number of different locations, including the university campus. In 2017, they will be held at the beautiful complex of the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Center.

Cheers to the Fraser Coast Volunteers!
